Pictures by Sarah
I love having a friend who takes pictures but I am not so sure my kids do. A few days ago I told Hailey to get in the car so we can go to Sarah's house. She said, "we have to go take pictures?" We were really not going to take pictures but she assumed we were. The pics always turn out so cute and I think they each secretly like it if they are alone for their photo shoot.

More cute pics!
Hailey and Valerie were making it almost impossible for me to take pictures of them. They are constantly picking at each other or tackling each other. Isn't that what boys are supposed to do? Cade made it home as fast as he could after church so I wasn't able to get a picture of him in his church clothes. (This was not surprising) The minute he hears Amen he is out the door. Valerie had her first little pony ever. Poor little 18 month old girl with no hair. We still think she is a little cutie though. Sunday morning called for a lot of hair to be curled. We got a cool new curling iron but by the time I got through Ashley and Mikayla's hair my time was up. Oh how I love being a single parent on Sunday mornings!

Easter Fun
We started out Easter Eve with the annual easter egg hunt at the hospital. All five of our kids were in separate divided areas. It takes longer to find a parking place than the actual egg hunt. But it is a tradition that we do every year. Valerie was unsure what to do but ended up getting a few eggs. Hailey walked out into the field and sat down and put the eggs in the basket that were within her reach. This was the first year I remember only having to wear a jacket. There was no wind and we were loving it.
Our next destination was to Stokes the store. I think this will become a tradition. All the kids got to decorate easter eggs and take them home. What could be better! There was definitely less mess, not no mess but less. I did learn you can get orange egg dye out of pink clothes. Valerie couldn't stop playing peek a boo with the easter bunny and we got to get our shopping done.
The night before easter morning Ashley made signs with each of the kids' names and ages. She then put them out in front of the easter baskets. Too cute! Yes, the easter bunny did come and brought treats and swimming suits.
Sunday dinner was held outside with Dave grilling steak. It was actually a perfect day. Church went smooth. It was Valerie's first time in nursery!! I was the substitute so I got to go with her. She is the youngest but can definitely hold her own. She smacked one kid and then told another one "don't!" He was about to smack her and ended up doing so despite the loud "don't!" Dave and I even got to go on our first Sunday walk of the season.
Every night while tucking each kid into bed we ask them to tell us 2 good things that happened throughout the day. We started this a couple of years ago to help them focus on the positive things of life. It was interesting that on easter night none of them said that it was the goodies that the easter bunny brought. We had such a fun family day and got to finally be outside that those things won over!

Cade's Easter Lesson
Cade found this idea on the internet and wanted to share it with all. We shall be trying it very soon. We thought it was a clever idea to help remind us about what Easter is all about.
RESURRECTION ROLLS
* 1 package Cresent rolls
* melted butter
* large marshmallows
* cinnamon
* sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Give each child a triangle of cresent rolls.
The cresent roll represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in.
Give each child a marshmallow.
This represents Jesus and His purity.
Have child dip the marshmallow in melted butter.
This represents the oils of embalming.
Dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar.
This represents the spices used to annoint the body of Jesus.
Wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the cresent roll
(not like a typical cresent roll up, but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside)
This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death.
Place in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
The oven represents the tomb (pretend like it was 3 days and nights!)
When the rolls have cooled slightly, the children can open their rolls (cloths) and discover that Jesus is no longer there,
HE IS RISEN!
The marshmallow melts and the cresent roll is puffed up,
but like the tomb - IT IS EMPTY!

Rexburg Temple
March Madness
Who doesn't love watching all those games especially the endings! I was so hoping Duke was going to lose. I can't believe they pulled that one off. I have nothing against Duke other than I have not liked them since High School. Sometimes I love that I can record T.V. and watch it later but not when it doesn't record the end of my show. My TV stopped recording the last 1 minute of the BYU/Texas A&M game. Oh well, not that the ending would have changed. Better luck next year Cougs! There is always football season coming up. I know Dave and Cade are already getting anxious.

The Lastest News....
Ashley had her first ever clogging competition this weekend. It was a whirlwind but I think they had a good time. She had 2 dances with her team of 7 and then she got to perform her favorite dance duet with Sydney. Who wouldn't like to get up there and jam out to the song "Jump In!" I was really glad we got there safe - after all it started out a little rocky with Emily running a red light and driving through a snowstorm j/k. We had no troubles thanks to the GPS system. I think Ashley's favorite part was choosing to eat at Arby's after we were done. Too bad Syd was sick.
While I went one direction Dave headed another. Luckily, he took both Valerie and Hailey and headed off to Cade's basketball tournament. He is such a good Dad.
Hailey and her friend, Reece. These two are together all the time and get along quite well can't you tell!

Exhausted!
This weekend I spent sitting in a gym watching Cade's basketball tournament and trying to recover from a weeks worth of activity crammed into 2 days. I decided I am not the spring chicken I used to be. First off, we won our city league volleyball tournament. It was a blast and very exhausting. I thought I was kind of in shape but that made me realize I have a way to go.
Next came 2 days of snowboarding. Oh what fun and what pain! Do you recognize me over there j/k. Cade has been trying to teach me jumps - landed some and totally killed others. I don't know if I am more sore from riding up the chair lift with him and tensing all my muscles or from crashing. You see, I am scared of heights and Cade thinks it is funny. I have to hold on to the chair lift for dear life and Cade leans forward with no hands or he will turn around and talk to the people behind us. He even talks using both his hands. Can you see why I would be so TENSE!!

What????
I came home the other day and this is all I saw on the floor. I touched the hair and it felt real. My stomach sank. I thought Hailey had cut off all her hair. She did just get a trim the other day in my kitchen and in the past after my girls get trims in the house they think it is okay for them to cut hair. Let us not forget Ashley (3 years old - 2 weeks before Cameron's wedding) she wacked off half of her head of hair to the scalp. It made me sick!!! Especially because we don't have very fast hair growing genes.
Luckily, and I mean luckily after talking with Hailey and inspecting her head she showed me her doll from Christmas. She said, "I just didn't want her to have bangs anymore." This had to all stem from Ashley getting her hair cut the other day and getting bangs. She had probably heard us discussing the matter. Ashley wanted bangs and I didn't want her to get them. I lost. Ashley got them but I must say the look cute on her.

Princess Party for Mikayla
We had such a fun weekend in Utah. It is always nice to get away for a while and then it is always nice to come home. On Saturday morning all of the little girl cousins went to a Princess Party and got pampered. They all got their hair done and then they got the fingernails done. They loved their curly hair and flowers on their nails. In the afternoon we went to a place called "Jump on it". It was a big warehouse with trampolines all lined up. They were even slanted on the sides of the wall. I liked it because it was broken down into age groups so nobody would get hurt. There were also a lot of jumpy houses and slides. Perfect for boys/girls and all ages! After jumping everyone of course was famished so we came home and had a feast. Rad and Nate grilled up steaks (in the snow) and Grandma Shirley made a checkered birthday cake for Mikayla. We had a great time. It was fun to see everybody.
