EMERGENCY

July 2012

 While the boys were at high adventure Mikayla and I took a trip to the ER due to a severe allergic reaction to SALMON (we think).  The whole thing happened so quickly.  We were at our friends house the Pages when Kayla took a bite of unseasoned salmon made on a grill used for the first time.  Within a minute she came and found me and said her lips felt funny and was showing me a little cut she had on her front lip.  Right in front of my eyes her lips started swelling.  I tried to get her to swallow some Benadryl  without a lot of success.  She then complained about her gums feeling weird and that if felt like something was in her throat.  That was it, I loaded her up (left my kids with Mel again, she gets my gets all the time lately with any health emergencies) and headed to the ER.  Her lips were very deformed by the time we got there.  I called on the way so they were expecting us.  She got a an epi shot, a shot of solumedrol, and a shot of benadryl.  They were very painful and she was very scared.  We stayed in the ER for 3 1/2 hours before being able to go home.  She will now be carrying around an epi pen everywhere she goes - just in case.

These pictures were taken right before discharge so her lips were big but nothing like they were!

Rocks

 Dave and Cade pulled up from high adventure to see a pile of rocks on our driveway.  I had rocks ordered to put in our newly made flower beds in the backyard.  They were beat and unable to help so I recruited the Pages to help.  We had help from many LITTLES!  My friend Mel was a trooper with me and we worked like crazy!  We even had enough rock to do my front flower beds.

Cade High Adventure

They went to the White Clouds and made their own trails.  Dave was able to join them for half of the week.

Enjoying fish caught with bare hands.  Cade was glad to eat fish after nothing but dry food all week - mostly Ramen noodles uncooked. They packed light as they had to carry everything on their packs for a week.

These boys were crazy!  Belly surfing off a glacier and straight into ICE water!

7 boys were able to go on this camp. I was told by the leaders that the boys were all great to help out each other in need as some couldn't carry their packs anymore as the terrain was quite treacherous.  Dave came home and could not move hardly at all.  He said he had know idea they would be going straight up mountains with no trails.  They all said if they knew how hard the trip would have been beforehand that none of them would have gone.  They were all glad they went and some good spiritual moments.  All 7 boys committed to go on missions when they are able.  The leaders are calling them the White Cloud 7.

This year was especially fun because I got to go as a leader in the Young Women and Ashley was a first time Beehive.  We went to Island Park and stayed in a cabin and tents.  We were able to hike in Yellowstone and go to the Playmill Theatre.  Lots of good times!

Softball

Valerie played her first year of Tball and loved it!  She of course wants to be like her older sisters!  May through the middle of July was filled with lots of Softball.  We were at the fields for games 4 nights a week and then you add in practices and it was craziness!  Ashley's team even practiced 2 to 3 times a week!  This was just city league ball!

 

Hailey - Jemma was on her team and the Thurston sisters were her coaches.  Hailey means business out on the field!

Mikayla had a great time playing with friend Graycie Winmill.  She enjoyed pitching and first base.  Their team didn't win many during the season but were on fire during the tournament.  They ended up taking 3rd.  The last two games game down to the last pitch of the game.  Such pressure for these little youngsters!

Ty was a trooper going to games almost every night.  He lived on snow cones and treats.  He was dirty and sticky but mostly happy!

Good Bye Preschool

 Wow! Valerie is already starting Kindergarten and I am finally starting to blog since school got out the end of last year!  That means I have all of summer to do!  SCARY!  But since this is like my family history journal I shall plug on ahead.

Miss Dawn and Miss Susan are wonderful!  They have taught all of my kids preschool so far except Mikayla (didn't go at all).  We love them and they so love the kids.  Miss Dawn has been amazing this year as she has fought a battle with Cancer.
