So close but so FAR!

I took the kids swimming the other day at the club. I enjoy sitting on sideline fully clothed watching children swim and holding Ty. Everyone had gotten out and taken off floaties but Hailey. Most were headed upstairs to showers. Before I knew it Valerie had gotten back in without floaties and was bobbing up and down in the water. She couldn't touch but was so close to grabbing the pole. Instinct took over and in I went in fully clothed. No time to rip off sweatshirt or Oobees. Mel was watching and we both had a good laugh after I knew she was safe. It was rather funny that in 3 1/2 feet of water I was soaked up to my neck! I sort of lunged for her thinking I could grab her but ended up sort of diving. I was so glad she was okay. We sure love that little girl!

Todd says this reminds him of "Meet the Parents." He's chuckling quite a lot. I am sorry you had to ruin a perfect day, but at least Valerie is safe. I lunged for a friend's daughter a few summers ago in a baby pool, we are talking 1 foot of water and ended up soaked and sacrificed my cell in the process. It's weird how that happens, it's slight panic and mom like attributes that make us seem "crazy" at those moments. Happy you are well.

That is the WORST feeling in the world to see your kid bobbing helplessly in the water! Sheer panic! I would have really liked to see your rescue dive! Glad she's OK!

Sorry, I accidentally posted my comment twice, so I deleted one.

You are such a Baywatch babe. I'm glad you were there to save her. I'm such a stress basket at pools with my two kids that I almost need floaties. Hope you had a great Easter.

You've got some "great skills" to move that fast! I prefer to let other people take my kids swimming so they can take the blame if anything happens and it won't be because I was being an unattentive parent! Good job....you can be Super Mom of 6 and Lifeguard too!
