How do you like me now?

Okay, so not my favorite here but look below. Not bad eh?

I have never seen "Can't buy me Love" until last night. Some of you out there thought that after I saw the show I might change my mind about McDreamy. Nope, I still think he is definitely dreamy (next to Dave, of course).

What?

I have noticed that my beautiful daughter Ashley has a new friend that has been spotted at my house. This friend happens to be a boy. They play soccer together at recess everyday. I didn't realize that he lives within walking distance of our house. He has come over to play basketball a couple of times. I really don't mind them playing ball with all the neighborhood but at the same time it makes me worry for the future. What am I to do?

Random Moments

Rock Band
Yes, we got Rock Band! The kids have been saving their money since January. They decided to pool their money together so they could get it sooner. Dave and I said that if they come up with half we would pay the other half. I don't know who likes it better, Dave or the kids? Dave has a really good voice (I didn't really know that). The kids want him to play with them because then they score higher and can open more songs. I must say it is fun but after a while my eyes start watering because I forget to blink. I am to focused on what colors I am supposed to hit with the drums.
Lost Teeth
Mikayla and her friend Rhett. Mikayla lost her first 2 teeth this week! She thought this moment would never come. She has been trying to make her teeth loose for a whole year. She even pulled the second one out all by herself. She came to show me and then she saw blood everywhere. As soon as she saw all the blood she went WHITE but she didn't faint. I don't know why the tooth fairy sometimes is the only one that can ever find the dollar that is supposed to be under the pillow. I make sure and tell my kids to look down between the bed and the wall because sometimes it could slip down there but it seems that I am the only one to find it down there. I wonder why?

This one is for you Dad!
Dad, you should be so proud. Look what Dave had the kids out doing last Saturday. (Of course, they would do anything we said that day to earn money for Rock Band) We are proudly carrying on the Keller tradition of putting roundup on q-tips and applying to crab grass. Will it work? Well, we are not sure but it sure kept the kids busy for most the afternoon.

Why can't I?

The question of sleep-overs causes quite some contention in our home. It has been about 2 1/2 years ago that Dave and I decided that we were not going to let our kids go to sleep-overs or have sleep-overs. Buy why? why? why? are words that I hear from our kids too often. It doesn't matter how many times I tell them the answer they just don't get it. I don't think they will understand it until they are parents themselves. We do let them do late nights. Isn't that good enough? After all, it just gets too confusing to say you can sleep at this house but not at this house. How do I really know what is going on or who is really there. I know I am a little bit of a control freak but I don't think this rule is really too outrageous. Anyone else have this rule? If so do you have any good explanations for your kids????

Is it really true?

It has been two days and I am still in shock that one of my favorite singers got voted off American Idol - Micheal Johns. I love his big ol' voice. I really liked when he sang the Doors and Queen songs. I thought he rocked. I for sure thought tatoo lady or Syesha would be voted off. I guess I can't complain too much because I watch but I don't vote. If I did vote I would be voting for the 2 David's.

On a brighter note, the t.v. show the "Office" started up again. It provided some good laughs. Who doesn't love Dwight? I decided you either love this show or you just don't get it. Dave gets it, in fact he laughs so hard that he can start crying.

Losing my mind?

I have decided that I am sick of the endless housecleaning. I clean but as soon as school gets out you would never know I did a thing! To top it off it all starts all over the next day. Does anyone know what I am talking about? How many hair clips/bows can a person try on in 1 day? Why does toothpaste always end up on the mirror? Today I was a very distracted cleaner. I started making my bed and the phone rang so I went to get it. Now I am in the other room (we only have one phone) and I notice I need to change the the wet clothes to the dryer. I then start emptying the dishwasher. Soon after beginning that project I have to change a diaper. On my way to get a diaper, I notice that my bed is still not made. By the end of the day I have done a whole bunch of half jobs!

I feel kind of guilty about my latest form of discipline. When Valerie goes down for a nap I know I have to really kick it in gear and get stuff done. Hailey usually is the only other one home at this time. She is not a TV watcher which can be a good and bad thing. Needless to say she ends up being my helper. But lately, she has been throwing whiney fits until she gets her way. I can't put her in time out in the house because she will wake the baby and then my precious time to get stuff done is gone. This is where the garage comes in. I have put her on the steps and closed the door until she is done having a fit. I am surprised how long these fits can last. Cade came home from school and was very concerned about her as she was lying in the middle of the garage floor rolling in the dirt and crying until someone could come and get her. Anyone have any better ideas?

Tradition

Our kids were excited today, not necessarily to sit and watch conference, but because they like our conference traditions. Every conference between sessions Dave makes his famous french fries and finger steaks. The kids love it and think he needs to open a restaurant. They think the restaurant should be named "Shirley Steakhouse" or "Dad's Meat." Dave does do a good job of cooking meat. In fact, I usually let Dave do all the shopping to buy meat because I just don't get it. I can by hamburger and chicken but that is about all I know when it comes to meat! The kids did say I could open up a dessert restaurant. Even they know I would rather eat and make treats than healthy food!
Mikayla sampling a finger steak. It was still a little hot but she couldn't wait to take a bite!

These finger steaks may not look so appetizing but they sure taste great! They taste even better because I didn't have to make them!
